What do I need to use the EZRoam service?
You need the EZRoam client software, which has a point-and-click interface and a listing of all access numbers. It includes all the scripts and properties associated with these numbers so you do not have to re-configure your notebook's dialer. The only other requirement depends on how you choose to connect: 1. For Dial-up access points: an RJ-11 phone cord to plug into your modem and a phone jack 2. For ISDN: an ISDN cable 3. For Wired Broadband: an RJ-45 network cord to plug into your notebook and the Broadband network port (for example, in your hotel room) 4. For Wireless Broadband: a wireless card (802.11b) or built-in wireless capability.

What is a "Hot Spot" and what are the advantages
of connecting to one?
A Hot Spot is a high-speed Internet connection generally set up at a public location, such as an airport, hotel, or convention center. A Hot Spot is generally Broadband, meaning high-speed, and can be wired or wireless. For wired Broadband, you need a typical network cable (RJ-45) while to connect to wireless Broadband, you need wireless capability (802.11b). You may have high-speed Internet access at home and at work. When traveling, dial-up speeds can be frustrating. EZRoam now offers high-speed Broadband access in many major cities. Before a trip, it may be useful to check the EZRoam dialer and make your travel plans based on availability of Hot Spots.
