Best Practices for BackUp

  • Store a copy off-site - Make sure at least one recent copy of your files is stored off-site or apart from your notebook. This is to minimize the chance that your notebook and backup are damaged or lost in the same way. For example, if your backup is on an extra hard drive and you carry them both in your briefcase, which is then stolen, your backup is of no use to you.

  • Follow a rigorous schedule - Use backup software or services that follow a rigorous backup schedule. Don't try to maintain a schedule yourself.
